Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the implementation of Islamic Religious Education related to student character development at SMA Islam Sultan Agung 1 Semarang. In formal education, Islam contains specific elements focused on educating and developing its students, one of which is Islamic Religious Education. This research employs a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data collection was conducted through observation, interviews, and document analysis. The findings indicate that Islamic Religious Education at this school is not only delivered formally in the classroom but also through religious routines, teachers’ behavior as role models, and religious activities such as study groups (pengajian) and congregational prayers. Several factors supporting the successful implementation of this education include the support from the school administration, a conducive Islamic environment, and parental involvement. Challenges faced include the diverse backgrounds of students and the consistency in applying Islamic values in daily life. Overall, Islamic Religious Education at SMA Islam Sultan Agung 1 Semarang has strived to assist students in developing good morals, although there remain aspects that require further attention.
